Interprofessional learning to enhance Spanish communication skills in Latinx pharmacy students

This case study focuses on an interdisciplinary educational experience in which university Pharmacy and Humanities early late Spanish-English bilinguals were paired to translate questions related sociobehavioral aspects of medication use. work describes the personal professional benefits reported by translators prevailing themes from verbal negotiations. The participants undergraduate Spanish, seven pharmacy doctorate students, five Hispanic studies graduate students. After completing individual translations, students met virtually create a final, collaborative version their translation. Participants subsequently invited answer open-ended about experience. Translators’ transcribed interactions questionnaire responses became basis for this article. Results show that main perceived benefit was participants’ improved language skills. findings also suggest length, quality, richness depended whether members pairings exhibited mutual respect, curiosity, empathy.
